BIBLIOGRAPHY
Eddie J. Baca has been making knives for more than 20 years. He made his first Tanto knife out of an industrial hacksaw blade with his father’s assistance when he was about 14 years old. Eddie was encouraged to be creative and learn additional knowledge by reading books and experimenting with different methods on making knives. Eddie worked at Santa Fe Stoneworks for a number of years, which gave him the opportunity to use the equipment and increase his skills and quality of work. Over the past 9 years, Eddie has worked with Robert (Bob) Terzuola who taught him how to hollow grind and build liner locks. Eddie still goes to Bob’s shop about once or twice a week to provide assistance and to exchange ideas and techniques. Eddie’s favorite part of knife making is experimenting with different knife designs, working with equipment, and making new tools. Eddie uses both the stock removal and hand forging methods and makes many styles of knives out of a wide variety of materials. His latest work specializes in folders constructed of ATS 34, S30V, or Damascus blade materials, titanium liners and bolsters, and prefers wood handles; however, he is willing to substitute other handle materials based on availability and associated costs.
BUSINESS HISTORY After many compliments, some time to collect and make the right equipment, and a gentle nudge from myself, Eddie’s wife Margaret, we started Eddie J. Baca, LLC, our business for manufacturing custom knives, in the middle of 1998. We can proudly celebrate our 8th year of successful business operation this (2006) summer! Eddie has done collaboration work with Santa Fe Stoneworks, Mr. Liong Mah, Mr. Jim Walton, and Mr. Jon Law. He has built custom knives for individuals that have wanted their own design(s) constructed. He makes adjustments to knives ordered to accommodate left hand users, double stud options, enlarged or reduced sizes of current available models, and has been successful and talented in accommodating most requests. We attend several knife shows a year and will continue to do so as they fit into our available schedule. We had to cancel one of our normal knife shows, so Eddie could attempt to catch up on some his knife orders. Bare with us … each knife is custom made, and we want to provide each individual order as … Quality with an Edge!
